Events

Accounting (R. Martinez): This event focuses on the elementary principles and practices of Accounting.
Calculator Applications (Hixon): This 30-minute contest focuses on calculations that range from Algebra I to Calculus.
Computer Applications (R. Martinez): This event focuses on computer skills, speed, and accuracy for databasing and word processing.
Computer Science: This event focuses on the understanding of Java Programming.
Current Issues and Events: This 40-question contest focuses on knowledge of current events, ranging from national to worldwide.
Literary Criticism (Johnson): Students are given a reading list in which they must be knowledgeable of literary history and of critical terms.
Mathematics (Hixon): This 40-minute, 60-questions long test focuses on questions from Algebra I all the way through Calculus.
Number Sense (Lagleder): This is 10-minute, 80-questions long test that focuses on mental math.
Ready Writing (Friedsam): Students are to compose an essay over one of the two prompts presented to them.
Science (L. Anderson): This event covers questions over biology, chemistry, and physics.
Social Studies (M. Anderson): This test is 45-questions and an essay, over a publication chosen at the beginning of the year by the UIL.
Spelling and Vocabulary: This test covers parts of a word list over multiple-choice questions, and vocabulary and words written from dictation.
Journalism (Cernoch): There are four different Journalism events, News Writing, Feature Writing, Editorial Writing, and Headline Writing. These events teach students to read critically, to digest and prioritize information quickly, and to write clearly.
One-Act Play (Cox): Students will perform a one act play.
Speaking Events (Bullock): These invents include: Informative Speaking, Persuasive Speaking, and Lincoln Douglas Debate.
Poetry Interpretation (Cox): Students will share poetry and art through oral interpretation.
Prose Interpretation (Cox): Students will share prose works through oral interpretation.
