English 1
English 1 students complete written compositions on a regular basis, using the conventions and mechanics of standard written English and produce final, error-free drafts. An emphasis is placed on organizing logical arguements while writing to persuade, to report, and to describe. Students read extensively in multiple genres from world literature and interpret possible influence of the historical context. English 1 Pre-AP is designed for students with high academic interest and a strong work ethic in English Language Arts, Pre-AP Curriculum serves as the foundation for the Advanced Placement Program. Emphasis is placed on developing critical and creative thinking and analysis of the syle of selected authos and works through required reading, discussions, essays, and exams. Students will read extensively in multiple genres from world literature and interpret possible influences of the historical text. Summer readding will be required.
