| English 3 students complete written compositions on a regular basis, using the conventions and mechanics of standard written English and produce final, error-free drafts. Students practice all forms of writing, but an emphasis is placed on business forms of writing such as the report, the business memo, the narrative of a procedure, the summary or abstract, and the resume. Students read extensively in multiple genres from American literature while interpreting possible influences of the histroical context. . |
English 3 AP This college level course prepares tudents to take he AP Language and Composition exam for possible college credit. Critical and creative thinking skills are developed through the reading and critical analysis of literature and lagnuage as well as required reading, discussion, essays, an exams. Through intense examination of various prose and writing styles, students are required to use rhetorical analyses, critical evaluation, stylistics, and advanced writing techniques. Students study literary works from vvarious periods primarily in contemporry American Literature. Summer reading is required. Students are expected to take the AP Language and Composition exam at the conclusion of the course. |
