Results Announced for Final District-Wide Chess Tournament

Once again, more than 300 students competed for top individual honors, which were given in four age groups along with campus participation and top campus team honors. Here are the results.

Kinder through Second Grade Category

1st place – Jack Schroeder, second grade, Bill Brown Elementary

2nd place – Aarnav Penagaluru, second grade, Hoffmann Lane Elementary

3rd place – Jake Wadle, first grade, Rebecca Creek Elementary

Third through Fifth Grade Category

1st place – Anthony Cozzie, fourth grade, Bill Brown Elementary

2nd place – Catcher Visser, fifth grade, Startzville Elementary

3rd place – Brayden Newton, fourth grade, Rahe Bulverde Elementary

Sixth through Eighth Grade Category

1st place – Dakota Fisher, seventh grade, Church Hill Middle

2nd place – Troy Messina, sixth grade, Pieper Ranch Middle

3rd place – Erick Ortiz, sixth grade, Mountain Valley Middle

Ninth through 12th Grade Category

1st place – Timothy Fowler, 11th grade, Canyon Lake High

2nd place – Dylan Sandau, 11th grade, Canyon Lake High

3rd place – Alexander Jones, 11th grade, Canyon Lake High

-Mountain Valley Middle School took both the top team and the participation honor at the final chess tournament for the sixth through eighth grade category.

-Timothy Fowler, an 11th grader at Canyon Lake High School, placed first in the ninth through 12th-grade category at the chess tournament.

-The Canyon Lake High School team took both the participation and top team honor at the final chess tournament for the ninth through 12th-grade category.

-The Rahe Bulverde Elementary team won the top team title for the third through fifth grade category.
