Nov. 18, 2022 - Approximately 29 cross country athletes were recognized Thursday during the Comal ISD Board of Trustees meeting for qualifying for the UIL Cross Country State Meet which took place Nov. 4-5 in Round Rock.
This year, three cross country teams from Comal ISD qualified for the state meet as well as three individual athletes.
In the UIL 5A conference, the Canyon High School girls team which placed third at regionals, finished in seventh place in the state, and the Smithson Valley High School girls team which placed second at regionals, finished sixth in the state.
In the UIL 4A conference, the Davenport High School boys team which placed fourth at regionals, finished 15th in the state.
The three individual state meet qualifiers include Cadence Patterson from Canyon Lake High School who finished 13th at regionals and 60th in the 4A State Meet; Madeline Reagan from DHS who placed ninth at regionals and 21st in the 4A State Meet; and Bradyn Youngdahl from SVHS who placed ninth at regionals and 35th in the 5A State Meet.
Cross country coaches include for CHS head coach Sheila West and assistant coach Steven Fiala; for CLHS head coach Cody Schroeder and assistant coach Chris San Miguel; for DHS head coach Michael Burgess; and for SVHS head coach Trenton Hall.
