Top of the Class Thursday: Get to Know DHS Valedictorian Dailyn Morgan

May 1, 2025 - Davenport High School Valedictorian Dailyn Morgan gives us an inside look into her high school experience in a graduation Q+A.

How did you find out you were Valedictorian?

Mrs. Liesing called me into her office with Mrs. Looney and let me know I was first! They had me call my mom and dad on speaker and my mom cried. We went out to eat that evening to celebrate!

Can you share what your speech is going to be about?

I think I am going to talk about how we are all moving on, whether that be going to college or getting a job, we are all going our own separate ways and on to do something great.

Describe the entirety of your high school experience in one word.

Meaningful.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

Telekinesis, because then I could do nothing all day and just move things with my mind.

What's your favorite way to relax?

It depends on my mood, because I am an introvert at heart. I would love to just lay in my bed and watch romcoms while I snack.

If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be?

Marilyn Monroe. She is iconic, she is unique, and she is not afraid to be herself. I really look up to her! She is an inspiration. We would go to Olive Garden and eat pasta.

Who would you say is your biggest supporter? Why?

Probably my mom. Once we realized I had a good shot at being the Valedictorian, we figured out my schedule together so that I would have the best chance. She has really supported me and my goals.

If your high school experience was a movie/song, what movie/song would it be?

13 Going on 30! I feel like half of my high school experience I have been wanting to just grow up and go to college, but now I don’t want to do that, I just want to be 13 again.

What are your plans after graduation?

I will be attending Texas A&M University and studying biomedical engineering. I really want to help make an impact on the healthcare industry engineering machines that will revolutionize patient care. I am considering joining Water Polo during my time at A&M!

What's a piece of advice you'd give your younger self?

Don’t be afraid to be who you are.

Thank you Dailyn Morgan for Growing Greatness on your Path to Success!
