Five recent graduates received the Exceptional Senior Award from U.S. Rep. Chip Roy. They represent Comal ISD among the 42 high school students from Texas' 21st congressional district given the award this year.

Students who rank in the top 5, 10 and 15 percent of their graduating class, receive honor cords which are worn during the graduation ceremony. Comal ISD is proud to recognize these students for their academic achievements.

This year marked the 22nd Annual Jan Heckendorn Academic Recognition Banquet honoring the top graduating seniors from each high school campus along with a teacher who has impacted them.

During the final weeks of school, Comal ISD high school campuses hosted 'signing days' for students who plan to pursue a career in the arts and CTE related fields. This includes music, theater, art, health care, cosmetology, construction, plumbing, HVAC and more.

Annually, a number of Comal ISD students make the decision to serve in the U.S. military upon graduation. Whether enlisting and beginning their military careers immediately or attending college with a military commitment, these students all have one goal - to serve their country.

Eleven Canyon High School seniors signed letters of intent to pursue their passions in art, theatre and music at the collegiate level. This annual Fine Arts Signing Night shines a light on students' talents and accomplishments both on stage and in the classroom.

The Smithson Valley High School girls soccer team broke many records this season and made school history in the process, beginning with a 27-1 record.

Student athletes who qualified for the state track and field tournament were recognized for their achievements by the Board of Trustees on May 18. They included the Smithson Valley Girls Team which won the Class 5A State Championship.

Four Comal ISD Winter Color Guard teams qualified for state-level competition with Davenport High School's team winning the championship title for the second year in a row. The teams were recognized by the Board of Trustees during the May 18 meeting.

Two Comal ISD students have been named National Merit Scholars by the National Merit Scholarship Program - Noah Bliss from Davenport High School and Mason Mock from Smithson Valley High School. Each received the National Merit $2,500 Scholarship.
