Hours of practice have paid off for two student musicians in the district. A percussionist with the Canyon Cougar Band and a clarinetist with the Canyon Lake Hawk Band earned the All-State Musician title recently.
One Smithson Valley High School student's artwork placed in the top 17 among 300 entries in this year's San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Western Art Contest, earning the sophomore a $4,000 scholarship.
